How to Master your Mindset (The #1 Key to Success)

There are four keys to success: Mindset, Deliverables, Consistency, and Accountability, and you need to master all four of them to be successful. But, you can have all the information in the world, the right products and programs, consistency, and accountability, but if you don’t have the right mindset, you won’t succeed. In addition, if you have 3 and one of them is missing, it might work for a while, but ultimately, you won’t succeed. In today’s article I’m focusing on mindset.

Mindset is the #1 key: what you think determines what actions you take. And, the actions you take are what ultimately lead to success. It also has to do with belief in yourself. If you think you can do something, you will do it, if you think you can’t, you won’t. So, how do you get yourself to believe you can do something that you don’t think you can do?

Here are 7 steps to mastering your mindset:

1. Decide that you are going to succeed no matter what; that is the first step. And stay positive! Affirmations can help to reinforce your decision.

2. Focus. Remove all the distractions and stop watching webinars and hanging out on social media by the hour.

3. Get started. Decide on a goal, and then work backwards to set up a schedule to get it done.

4. Find a coach who has done what you want to do who can walk you through it.

(Be willing to spend the money to educate yourself, because if you don’t, it will cost you far more in lost time, money, and energy, and could derail your dreams forever if you get so discouraged that you just give up.)

5. Take baby steps, but take action. Nothing happens until you take action. But, if you bite off too much at one time, you will overwhelm yourself, and do nothing. That’s why it’s best to cut the project down into baby steps. Plus, when you take a step and you succeed, it gives you more confidence.

6. Get feedback. You have to be willing to do something poorly before you are can do it well. So, do something and then get feedback. When you get feedback, you will be guided toward greatness! For instance, I have been working on a collaboration book, How to Crush it in Business without Crushing Your Spirit, How Entrepreneurs Can Overcome Depression and Find Success. I had a cover created, and I got feedback.

The feedback wasn’t great, so I did it again, and again, and again, until the feedback I got was amazing! It took four designers and four months to get it right, but I couldn’t have done it without feedback! Note: One great place to get feedback is in my private free Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/bestsellerbusinessblueprint

7. Remove “failure” from your vocabulary. Failures are just opportunities to learn and get better at what you are trying to accomplish. But, if you find yourself feeling like you’ve failed on a regular basis, you will spiral downward. (I know because it happened to me!) In that case, refer to #4. You have to break the cycle of lack of success, and coaching is the fastest and best way to do it.
