How to Turn Your Book into 10K Clients, Lead Generation (Part 5-1),How to Get Unlimited Traffic and Prospects To fill your $10K Coaching Program!

If you don’t generate leads, you won’t have anyone to sell to! The challenge is where to start?

First you must approach it with the right mindset.  Instead of approaching people with the idea of selling them something, think about giving them something for free that will be of value to them. That way there is no risk to them, and it will be easier for them to take you up on your offer.

Figure out what you could give them that will solve their problem.

And remember, each time you solve a problem, it will create another challenge that needs solving, so you don’t have to be afraid to solve that first problem for them.

People don’t often realize this, so they are afraid to solve it. Or, they get stuck because they are afraid that they will give their whole system away for free. The key is to tell them what to do,  but not HOW to do it or not how to do all of it.

Sometimes, you can tell them what to do all day long and many of them still can’t do it. I have found that that is the case with title writing for instance. I have spoken at length at how to write titles that sell books for you, and yet, I often receive manuscripts with titles that would absolutely scare potential buyers away!

But, if your subject doesn’t lend itself to that, then you’ll want to make sure that you save the deep dive for your program where you teach it.

This freebie can be a free report, a checklist, a video or video series, a master class, or challenge that leads to a product you sell or a free consultation if you coach or, in this case, offer high-end products and/or services. (The key is to give people something they really want and name it, so it hits them emotionally and makes them want to acquire it.)

It can also be a survey or quiz, in which case you aren’t solving a problem, but finding out more about that problem they have so  you can solve it for them later on.

I want to be clear here; there are so many ways to generate leads, but I am going to focus on my TOP 6 ways to market without paying for advertising in this series. . And these actually work better than advertising in many instances-especially if you are marketing to millennials.

But in this edition, I want to ask you a question…before you can start to market, you’ll want to do some market research to find out where your best prospects can be found. Are they on Facebook? Linkedin? Instagram? Or some other social media site?

The truth is, it doesn’t matter how great your offer is or how much value you give if you aren’t marketing where you potential clients can see you. You want to generate leads only where prospects who are actually INTERESTED in what you have to offer can find you or you will waste a lot of time, money and energy, and you won’t be successful.

Once you have the right free offer and know where your market is, you’ll need to figure out what you enjoy doing and/or what you can outsource, because passion is important to your success too. You MUST enjoy your life day to day.

Remember, you don’t have to figure everything out all at once. Go slow. Start with one or two lead generation techniques and master them, and then you can add more over time. But, the key is to decide on a strategy,  and then to be consistent. (Of course, I recommend starting with an ebook, or adding one to the mix you already have.)

In this edition, I want to cover the two types of marketing: inbound and outbound marketing

1. Inbound marketing- reaching out to leads and
2. Outbound marketing-attracting them to you.

Inbound market focuses on attracting customers by attracting them with relevant and valuable information. Blog search engines and social media are used for inbound marketing.

Outbound marketing refers to the older type of marketing where you buy advertising through tv, radio, newspapers, magazines, billboards, but also banner ads, and pay per click-which by the way still works very well if you advertise your lead magnet and not your service directly. But, a word of caution… it can prove to be very expensive if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Inbound marketing has become much more accessible to everyone because it’s free-at least for the time being- so it’s the easiest  place to start. You can test out your strategies and not worry about screwing it up!

Also, be aware that if you are trying to reach the under-40 crowd that outbound marketing has lost a lot of  its’ power to attract them. This generation does not want to be sold to. Plus, with outbound marketing, you have to be very clever, and with escalating costs and increased competition, it is more difficult to get heard through the noise.

In the next edition, I will share two of my top lead generation strategies. Stay tuned!
